The text of the predominately lyrical, expressive, gentle-sounding oratorio is based on the Latin liturgy of Christmas which is oriented towards Catholic ritual. The work, composed in 1860, which meanwhile is also well known in Germany, shows its classicistic characteristics right from the beginning. "Prelude, dans le style de Seb. Bach". The orchestra is limited to strings, harp and organ, and the choral parts have neither a wide range, nor are they difficult. In the orchestra the obbligato harp plays in only two of the 10 movements of the work, usually together with the organ. If a harp is not available, technically this part can be played by the organ.

Le texte de l', oratorio douce consonance essentiellement lyrique, expressif est basé sur la liturgie latine de Noël qui est orientée vers le rituel catholique. Le travail, composé en 1860, qui est quant à lui aussi bien connu en Allemagne, montre ses caractéristiques de style classique dès le début. "Prelude, dans le style de Seb. Bach". L'orchestre est limitée à cordes, harpe et orgue, et les parties chorales avoir une large ni une gamme, ils ne sont pas difficile. Dans l'orchestre, la harpe obligé joue dans seulement deux des 10 mouvements du travail, en général avec l'organe. Si une harpe n'est pas disponible, techniquement cette partie peut être joué par l'organe.
