The edition presented here is an adaptation of the so-called 'second' lute suite whose original instrumentation, however, still remains uncertain. Judging by formal aspects, this piece has more in common with the Italian Sonata di chiesa than with the suite. But as this term is still asscociated with this particular piece, it has also been kept for this edition. The arrangement closely follows the urtext of the New Bach Edition while aiming at the same time to give the bass part an individual character.

L'édition présentée ici est une adaptation de la soi-disant «deuxième» suite luth dont instrumentation originale, cependant, reste encore incertain. A en juger par les aspects formels, cette pièce a plus en commun avec l'italien Sonata di chiesa qu'avec la suite. Mais comme ce terme est encore asscociated avec cette pièce en particulier, il a également été retenu pour cette édition. La disposition suit de près la urtext de l'édition New Bach tout en visant en même temps de donner la partie de basse un caractère individuel.
