His 'Variations sur un thphme hongre', re-released here for the first time, reflect the interest in Hungarian music kindled around 1790 which also left its traces in the works of Haydn, Beethoven or Schubert. The theme arranged here is not a particular piece, but rather a traditional dance melody in the Hungarian style.
