The work, published as WoO 46, features the theme "Bei Mannern, welche Liebe fuhlen". The variations would make an excellent addition to a recital program. The original key of E-flat major places the bass clarinet in the comfortable F major, and an extended range instrument is not required. Original key and range maintained throughout.
