Scored at our request for brass soloist with piano accompaniment, this version of Richard Wagner's striking theme vividly portrays the mythical Valkyrie carrying their heroic dead to Valhalla on dashing steeds. Though some reduction and condensation of the original orchestral score was necessary, the leaping rhythms, heavy chords and incisive counterpoint with which everyone identifies are well intact.
