A collaborative effort by four composers with close ties to the late Roger Wagner, who was a strong advocate and devotee of 16th century performance practices and Gergorian Chant. In particular, Roger was very fond of the Ave Maria, and was closely identified with this remarkable plainchant, which is the thematic basis for each movement of this mass.
