The present work 'Pantomime' by Paul Hindemith, now available as a separate edition for the first time, comes from his opera 'Cardillac', performed in 1926 for the first time, a musical setting of the mysterious crime story about the goldsmith of the same name from the novella 'Das Fraulein von Scuderi' by E.T.A. Hoffmann. Act I of the opera contains a mimed scene, accompanied by two solo flutes and orchestra. The present edition contains the dialogue of the flutes, rich in gesture, and the reduced orchestra version as piano version. The expressive dialogue of the equal solo flutes is reminiscent of the characteristic music of the silent film. Our separate edition shall make the piece known among flutists and add to the contemporary flute repertoire.

Le présent travail «Pantomime» par Paul Hindemith, maintenant disponible en édition séparée pour la première fois, vient de son opéra «Cardillac», réalisée en 1926 pour la première fois, un cadre musical de l'histoire du crime mystérieux sur l'orfèvre de la même nom de la novella «Das Fraulein von Scuderi» par l'ETA Hoffmann. Acte I de l'opéra contient une scène mimée, accompagné de deux flûtes solo et orchestre. La présente édition contient le dialogue des flûtes, riche en geste, et la version d'orchestre réduite version pour piano. Le dialogue expressive des flûtes solo égalité est pas sans rappeler la musique caractéristique du cinéma muet. Notre édition séparée rend la pièce connu parmi les flûtistes et ajouter au répertoire de la flûte contemporaine.
