Opera arrangements for four flutes from the 19th century are difficult to find, while there are numerous arrangements for other instrumentations. So why not use a good opera transcription as the basis for a romantic-style fantasy on opera themes. For this edition, we chose one of the eight opera transcriptions for flute and piano by Joachim Andersen. 1847-1909. Partly, the interludes have been modified, and the whole work has been shortened. articulation marks have been adapted so far as to conform to the original text. in particular the middle voices have been modified.
