The circumstances of the origin of Sinfonia concertante in Eb major. KV 297 b. are disputed. it was probably created in Paris in April 1778 for four famous solo instrumentalists of the Mannheim Court Chapel. In his arrangement, Werner Egk included and extended the concertante aspect.
