This work opens with a bold and brief 'Fanfare' of major and minor triads above a timpani-like figure in the pedals. The Arioso that follows is a ternary design with a cantabile melody accompanied by seventh and ninth chords. The closing stately Trumpet Rondo follows the pattern of an English trumpet tune with an 8-measure reed solo followed by the tune in an ensemble setting. This Triptych may be used as a three-part organ solo, or any section can stand alone in recital or service.
