Published by Dantalian, Inc.. DA.DSE803. In the late 1950s Mr. Martino was still active as a concert and jazz clarinetist. At that time ,while living in New york he composed a dozen works for a jazz ensemble he was forming. These works, once graced by the all-knowing and unerring fingers of the great Bill Evans have been shelved these many years. One by one they are being released in published versions. The soulful ballad CATHY includes a remarkable early solo by Bill Evans from Mr Martino's private collection and some noodling by the composer. CATHY may be heard on New World 80518-2 in one of the condensed and reorchestrated versions. Published version is the original for Cl, Vbr, Pf, Bass and Drums but includes the condensed options. 1957, 3- 8 minutes depending on the version performed.
