Charles Gounod's restful melody soars over J.S. Bach's famous prelude. Gonoud was one of France's best composers, if a little undervalued, at the end of the nineteenth century, before his interest in Religious and Sacred compositions waned. This piece is a prime example of his interst in ealier forms of music. This version has been faithfully if not wonderfully arranged for a Tenor saxophone and Piano accompaniment by Duncan Reid. This superb piece will be a suitable challenge for those working at grades 2-3.
