Olivier Messiaen. 1908-1992. était un organiste et compositeur français passionné d'ornithologie et l'un des compositeurs les plus importants de son siècle. Inspiré par la musique japonaise, il avait une façon très particulière de la composition et son travail peut être identifié par sa complexité, son aspect diatonique, son harmonie avec la transposition limitée, sa couleur et ses rythmes additifs. Il a composé de nombreuses œuvres liées à l'ornithologie et le chant des oiseaux, y compris le 'Bird catalogue' en 7 volumes et le «Traité sur le rythme, la couleur et l'ornithologie» dans sept volumes.
