Taken from Songs Between The Soul And The Bridegroom. Canciones entre el alma y el esposo is a poem consisting of forty verses. Having previously set two sections of it as separate a cappella choruses and one for two countertenors and strings, I've long wanted to make a complete setting of the work and, by arranging the countertenor piece for a cappella chorus and setting the remaining verses as two more anthems for the same forces, I've completed the task. The five pieces can of course still be performed separately, or brought together as a twenty-five minute setting of Roy Campbell's translation from the original Spanish of this vivid and intense poem. Tiré de chansons entre l'âme et l'Epoux. Chansons entre l'âme et le mari est un poème Composée de quarante versets. Ayant déjà institué deux sections de ce que distincts a cappella chœurs et un pour deux contre-ténors et cordes, je ai longtemps voulu faire une mise en place complète de l'œuvre et, en agençant la pièce de contre-ténor pour chœur a cappella et en définissant les versets que deux autres hymnes pour les mêmes forces, je ai achevé la tâche. Les cinq pièces peuvent bien sûr toujours être effectuées séparément ou réunis en tant que paramètre 25 minutes de la traduction de Roy Campbell de l'espagnol de ce poème vive et intense.
