An American of Japanese descent, Chihara is a professor of music at the University of California at Los Angeles. His interest in Oriental music is apparent in his music, and he frequently utilises the techniques of altered vibrato, limited pitch movement, microtones and electronically modified sounds. He has also composed scores for over 90 films and television series. This Trio was composed in 1974 and dedicated to the Mirecourt Trio. this edition features a full score for the Piano and two integrated Violin. Cello parts for ease of performance.
