Composed by Christopher Jentsch. This edition: Trumpet range to Db6. Jazz Waltz. Score and set of parts. Published by UNC Jazz Press (NC.1728).(8 Brass) This arrangement is based on an original composition in the style of pianist Bill Evans. Appropriately it features piano although changes have been provided for other potential soloists (alto, tenor, trumpet, guitar or bass). Because it is sharp leaning throughout, this arrangement could serve as an etude on that issue for an average college band. The improviser might be challenged by a chord progression somewhat hard for this level. The harmonic language consists of standard Evans jazz chords, but there are lots of them and several sharp leaning key changes to negotiate. No doubles. Optional Flutes I-IV and/or Vibraphone. Premiered by the Eastman New Jazz Ensemble. Later recorded by the University of Miami's Concert Jazz Band on Jentsch's Miami Suite CD.
